First defeat of the black and whites in the regional championship

In the 8th round of the AdmiralBet ABA league, Partizan NIS lost to Crvena zvezda MTS with 71:56 (15: 8, 17:13, 15:19, 24:16).
Crvena zvezda won the first derby of this season. The black and whites did not manage to defeat Crvena zvezda MTS in the "Aleksandar Nikolic" hall, so after 7 starting victories in the regional league, they recorded their first defeat.
The first quarter belonged to the host, who had a 15: 8 advantage after ten minutes. During the second quarter, Partizan reached four points behind with five tied points, but in the last few minutes of the second quarter, the rival tied a few points and thus secured advantage of 32:21 in the middle of the match.
Although during the third period the basketball players of Partizan NIS were 17 points behind, they managed to return to the match and approach the five-point deficit in the finish of the third quarter.
However, there was no complete turnaround in the end, the home team managed to increase its advantage again and in the end won with 71:56.
At the press conference held after the game, the coach of the black and whites, Zeljko Obradovic, said:
"I would like to congratulate Crvena zvezda on the deserved victory. They played better than us during all 40 minutes. We started the game pretty well in the attack by doing the things we practiced in training. Unfortunately, we didn't hit anything. We mostly shot disastrously for three points in the first half - 1 out of 10. In the third quarter we managed to get back into the match, but unfortunately we missed two free throws at that point and that was practically all the good we did in the game. Once again, I congratulate the Red Star on the deserved victory," said Obradovic.
