Went over the Top of Europe to reach Top 16

BC partizan players cruised to success in Moscow beating great CSKA 66:63 (18:14, 12:15, 13:16, 23:18) in the last round of the group D to reach Euroleague TOP 16. Partizan started the game with a lot of engagement in all segments of the game making their biggest match lead of 8 points, 13:5,however Lorbek and Planinic score two three-pointers and Partizan paced to the second quarter 2 points ahead 18:16. CSKA shifted the gear up in the second period scoring five in a row to catch the lead but Partizan goes to half time rest with one point lead after a lot of tug of war on the score line with Tepic's three with the sound. The third quarter gave us more tug of war game, but CSKA takes the lead mid-quarter outscoring Partizan 9:0. However, Partizan's Lasme scores five and takes the match back, still CSKA leads 45:43 in front of the decisive period. Rasic's three and Jan Vesely's Top 10 Dunk give Partizan lead again 54:48, then CSKA scores 8:0 again but Rasic fights back with a downtown three and smooth and cool Bozic's hand from 7 meters gives Partizan 60:57 lead. Tepic's 2p, Lasme's dunk and Rasic's cold blooded free throws make the final score. BC Partizan will play Top 16 for the third consecutive year, led by great plays from Milenko Tepic and Aleksandar Rasic scoring 13 points each, Lasme scored 11, and with fantastic defensive contribution from Slavko Vranes and the rest of the team. Erazem Lorbek (23points) was the best in the rival team. "Of course I am over the moon with such a big win and qualifier for Top 16 teams in Europe, especially in such a brilliant way for our club and Serbia and its basketball. We played the game as if the win was the only solution and way to qualify to Top 16, we didn't want to wait for other results, players were all very motivated and fulfilled are they duties and arrangements. CSKA is a good team with a world-class coach, but they are not in perfect condition at the moment and our desire to win the game was the key. They say that everything goes to those who want it more so the win at this game goes to us. We had a critical period in the game after they series of 8:0 but when we overcame that we believed that we could win more and more every second. It is very important to emphasise the referees doing their job at a high level. As to me, one of the most beautiful parts of the match was the moment CSKA and Partizan fans sang the anthem together as CSKA and Partizan are named after the symbols of anti-faschistic battles. Once again, I am over the moon. We've done a mount business for the club and Serbian basketball," were the post-match comments of Dusko Vujosevic. Top 16 draw is scheduled for Monday, January 19 CSKA: Zizis 4, Smodis 4, Siskauskas 12, Holden, Lorbek 23, Langdon 4, Shved, Kaun 2, Khryapa 3, Planinic 9, Morris 2.
