20 years since the death of our Haris

The former captain of Partizan passed away on December 15, 2000, three days after he was seriously injured in the parking lot in front of the "Pionir" hall.

For twenty years on this day, a lump has stopped in the throat of every Partizan fan and basketball fan. On this day, exactly twenty years ago, the former captain of the black and whites and former player of Buducnost from Podgorica, Sarajevo, Bosna and Borac Cacak, Haris Brkic, left this world too early. On the fateful December 12, Haris went out of training earlier and approached his car, where an unknown attacker ambushed him, and fired a shot at a 26-year-old basketball player and inflicted injuries on him, from which he died three days later.

Twenty years later, the legend of the player who had the best two steps, the captain and a friend, lives and will live forever.

Haris Brkic was born on July 24, 1974 in Sarajevo. He started playing basketball at the age of 10, when he went to the first training in BC Bosna. At the age of only seventeen, Brkic moved to Partizan in 1992, from where he was loaned to Borac Cacak. In the ranks of the Cacak team, Brkic played his first minutes in the senior competition, after which he soon returned to Partizan, where he won three state championship titles and three national cups in six seasons. In the 1997/98 season, Haris Brkic was the captain of the team that qualified for the "final four" in Barcelona. In the 1999/2000 season, Brkic played for Buducnost from Podgorica, the team in which he started the 2000/01 season. After a few weeks, Haris returned to his Partizan from Podgorica, but his return career in a black-and-white jersey was interrupted when he passed away on this day, twenty years ago.
