'The Black and Whites' Lost in The Eternal City

Partizan is defeated by Lottomatica in Rome 88:72 (26:23, 23:11, 18:18, 21:20) in the final week of Top 16 group G competition. The black and white guys started well and had a 2:7 lead but Lottomatica made it equal 18:18 by a sharp series. The tough 1st quarter ends by a triple point shot from Lottomatica and the score is 26:23. The second quarter starts badly as the host manages to put the gap wide by a 9:0 series and 38:25 in total. Our guys did not have the answer to this and the half time score is 49:34. The third period goes to Romans again as they deservedly top the lead in this match by 67:45. However, the black and white guys diminished the difference in the eve of the final quarter but they were way far from turning the score on their side. Lottomatica kept playing above the rim and finished the game in a big style. The Black and Whites had already qualified for Euroleague Top 8. About 100 fans from Belgrade, Zurich and Rome cheered our guys during the match. Partizan Head coach Duško Vujošević was not satisfied by the performance of his team and he reckons that Lottomatica deservedly won the game. “This game had no importance for us, at all. They showed insatiable will and desire to win and made it tonight with a little help from the refs who let the game be tougher than the foul limits normally allow. Nevertheless, they deservedly won tonight just because they had a bigger desire to win.“ Vujošević also announced that he will use this loss for analysis because the most important matches and fight for trophies are still to come."We must not repeat this night. We must not change the rythm and lose by 20 points after the match in Arena and 20 thousand ecstatic fans, this is just not clever enough. All the defeats including this one can be sobering. I understand the accumulated fatigue and energy loss. We have to use this loss for a thorough analysis and find out why we lost and why we had a wrong approach to this match and finally find the way to bring the correct approach back. We want to be champions again. We've already won the Cup but the trophy battle is yet to come.“Lottomatica – Partizan 88:72 (26:23, 23:11, 18:18, :) Lottomatica: Giachetti 2, Gigli 1, Tonolli 5, Hutson 23, Casale, Jennings 5, Datome 12, Douglas 18, Jaaber 17, Gabini 5.
