PAO Wins the Cup, Unicaja Falls in the Final

Partizan Top 16 rivals Panathinaikos won the Greek Cup trophy beating their bitter rivals Olympiakos in the final but Unicaja failed to go away with the Copa del Rey trophy as they were narrowly defeated by Tau Ceramica in the final after an over-time. Lottomatica Rome were not successful at all as they dropped out from the Italian Cup quarter finals. Tau Ceramica beat Unicaja in the Copa del Rey final after overtime 100:98. Pitt Mikel was the match winner for Tau scoring fabulous 10 points in the overtime. Marcus Haislip 23 points and Nate Archibald 16 were the best players of Unicaja team in this match. The final score after 40 minutes was 87:87 as Unicaja's playmaker Gomis scored with the foul in the final seconds of the game but he failed to hit the additional free-throw and missed a chance to bring the trophy to Malaga team. Then, Pitt Mikel stole the show with 10 points in the overtime and scored the decider. However, Omar Cook had the chance to organise the final attack of his team but he did it in a poor way as Rodriguez' shot was blocked away for TAU's celebrations. Panathinaikos won the Greek Cup trophy beating Olympiakos 80:70 in the final. The game was a real tie until Antonis Fotzis and Stratos Perperoglu spiced it up hitting two three pointers in the final quarter. That was enough for Olympiakos players to strike back with a 7:0 series but Dimitris Diamantidis held the key for the victory in his hands. He scored three consecutive three- pointers and Olympiakos did not have the answer to that. Dimitris Diamantidis, 16 points, is also the MVP of the final game. Nikola Peković scored 5 points in this match for Željko Obradović's team. Lottomatica lost to Virtus Bologna 85:76 and got eliminated in the q-finals of the Italian Cup. Andre Hutson 16 points and Ruben Daglas 15 points (his debut for Lottomatica) were the best players of their team. Partizan travells to Malaga as our 'black and white guys' play one of the crucial games in Euroleague Top 16 against Unicaja on Wednesday, February 25 at 20:30 CET.
