Partizan Starts Chase for Back to Back Cup Title
Radivoj Korać Cup final tournament starts today and lasts up till Saturday, February 21, in Niš. Partizan will try to defend the trophy they won last year in ‘Čair' in Niš. Partizan rivals on this tournament are Hemofarm, Red Star, FMP, Vojvodina, Lions from Vršac,Borac Cacak and Metalac from Valjevo. The first couple of the opening day quarter finals is Partizan - Vojvodina. The second Q-finals match is Hemofarm - Borac. While tomorrow, FMP meet Lions in the third Q-final match and Red Star check Metalac in the fourth match. Partizan has a very tough schedule as The Black and Whites entertain Vojvodina in the first match and the winners play against the winner of Hemofarm – Borac Čačak match. Partizan demolished Vojvodina 81:52 in the previous encounter of these teams in NLB league. The semi- final matches of Radivoj Korać Cup final tournament are scheduled for February 20 whilst the final match will be played on Saturday, February 21. Vlade Divac will present the trophy to the cup winners. BC Partizan players have won nine National Cups in the clubs history and they will defend the last season trophy that they won beating Hemofarm Vršac 73:64 in the final. Partizan head coach Duško Vujošević has won three Cup trophies in three different countries with Partizan. In SFRJ in 1989 beating Jugoplastika in Maribor, then in SRJ in 2002 beating Budućnost in Podgorica and last year in RS in Nis. Partizan has been victorious in Niš twice, winning National Cup trophies in 1992 and 2008.
